The trade fair at Green Olives Private School is usually about learning how to sell products and get profit. We do this every session, either in second or third term and it is always so educating. This started because of our entrepreneurship teacher Miss Mariam. She convinced the school management to allow us children to know what it is like to be a business person.
I have had a personal experience and I knew how it felt like to be a business person and earn money. I had to make customers to buy my products by saying it out so that they can hear me and patronize my business. In my business, I was selling calendars (Ankara calendars) and they were beautiful. I was very happy when a parent came to buy my product. I immediately called out the price and the parent paid.
While I was selling, I had someone else sitting beside me, she gave me the courage to make people come to my stand and to tell the truth, it was fun hanging out with her. As I was selling, it got to a point where one customer could not pay my normal price, so I told her the last price. Once she paid, I gave her the change and it was settled.
That day was really an interesting day but after a few minutes of not selling, I started to get bored and it wasn’t that fun anymore. Just as I was thinking of how I would sell my last product it started to rain and our things started getting wet, we had to go inside. But after a short while, the rain stopped and we all went back downstairs to continue selling our products. We stayed outside for a long time especially me because I wanted to sell all my products. Just then, a customer came and showed interest in my last product. I was very happy when he paid because I was the only who sold all my products that day, and all my efforts did not go in vain.
We went to give Miss Mariam the money we made and she was very proud of all of us. She shared the money between us and also gave me a special Ankara for being the only one who sold all her products. All other stands also sold their products but the soap making stand had the most money because many people needed soap.
When I got home I couldn’t stop thinking about it and I told everyone in my family and they were all proud of me. I haven’t forgotten that day because it was a very special experience for me.
Thank you.
