GOVSA is an educational and training organization created to empower the Nigerian citizen through skills acquisition/training & entrepreneurship development by meeting two (2) of the Sustainable Development Goals which are Quality Education & Poverty Alleviation.

The empowerment initiative of GOVSA combines training on Digital Technology skills, Handcraft skills, Technical skills and Entrepreneurship studies.

The dream for empowering humanity was born in June 2016 when our CEO, Mrs. Funmilayo Onafowokan turned fifty (50). To celebrate this landmark birthday, she organized a free training for three hundred and fifty (350) people on ten (10) vocational courses with free daily meals included.

In May 2019, Mrs. Funmilayo Onafowokan decided to turn her dream and passion into a lasting legacy and therefore Green Olives Vocational Skills Academy was born.

We haven’t looked back since then and several training programs have been organized by GOVSA both physically and virtually (notably during the worldwide lockdown in 2020 when we organized free virtual trainings for children, youth and adults).

Over the years, based on our experience training youth, we have observed that 75% of registrations are female, from the teenagers to retirement age. But most could not attend trainings due to several minor and major barriers. Therefore, we are dedicated to empowering more young women by equipping them with the relevant skills needed to start their own businesses or be employable in their future jobs/careers.

We partnered with NYSC, Lagos State to deliver free Digital Technology & Entrepreneurship Training for Youth Corp members in Lagos State for the year 2021 and we are looking to form more of such partnerships that will benefit young people both locally and internationally.
