IMPORTANCE OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP STUDIES IN SCHOOLS

AS Written by Chidinma Ezukwo (Primary 6 Graham Bell)

Entrepreneurship means setting up a business and taking risks in order to make a profit. Entrepreneurship studies have helped many people earn a lot of money. For example, Emmanuella, a little girl who started her own business, she is now rich and is popularly known. Entrepreneurship studies have helped many children and the community.

Entrepreneurship Studies is a very important subject in schools because of the following reasons:

1.      Entrepreneurship studies teach students to be creative.

2.      It helps students to build their self-confidence.

3.      It helps students to know how to take calculated risks.

4.      It helps children to make critical decision.

5.      It brings about financial freedom.

6.      It encourages independence.

7.      It brings out the leadership qualities in a child.

Entrepreneurship studies also teach us to be hardworking and creative. For example in my school we have a trade fair every second term, whereby we produce goods ourselves and sell it to make money. On that day, we sell things like beads, wigs, soap, chin-chin etc. We also do it on open days (when parents come to check their child(ren) books to see how well they’re doing).

Also Entrepreneurship studies are important to the community for these reasons:

1.      It pushes individuals to be creative and come up with new inventions to make life easier for us.

2.      It creates social and economic changes and growth.

3.      It aids wealth creation for the business owner and the nation.

4.      It creates job opportunities in the community.

Some businesses children can engage in for starts are:

1.      Making Lemonade juices.

2.      Making Ankara crafts.

3.      Making jewelry

4.      Making hair

5.      Making soap

Entrepreneurship studies introduce us to new ideas and that is why I love Entrepreneurship studies.

Thank you!
